Important update for landlords in England

The Government has announced a new national Register your rental property service, launching on 15 December 2026 in the West Midlands before being rolled out across England.

What landlords need to know

· Registration will become a legal requirement when the scheme reaches your region.

· You will have three months to register once your area is included.

· Registration will cost £65 per property annually.

· Failure to register could result in financial penalties.

· Registration numbers will eventually need to appear on property adverts.

· All actively rented properties must be registered by 14 November 2027.

With significant changes continuing across the private rental sector, it is more important than ever for landlords to stay informed and prepared.

At JW Wood Estate Agents, our experienced team is here to help landlords understand their responsibilities, remain compliant and manage their properties with confidence.
